FCC intends to expand its industrial activities in order to manufacture high value added chemicals in long term.
Purification of 50 Kt/y of Ethylene Oxide for sale is among planned projects which the Basic Engineering, PDP (Process Diagram Package) and feasibility study of this project has already been completed.

Purification of Ethylene Oxide (EO)
Ethylene Oxide is one of important ethylene-based chemicals, is highly reactive, versatile compound. It is colorless gas or liquid with sweet odor. Industrially it is primarily a chemical intermediate for a wide variety of compounds. Its most important derivative is Ethylene Glycol (a chemical used to make PET polyester and antifreeze).

Application of EO:
Ethylene Oxide can either be purified for sales for production of ethoxylates, ethanol amines and other intermediates or hydrolyzed to ethylene glycols. It is very reactive compound used directly only to limited extent as disinfectant, fumigant and sterilizing agent. However, most ethylene oxide is converted in to other products mainly ethylene glycol.
Products derived from EO have many different uses; the most important ones are production of Ethanol amines, Ethoxylates, Poly Ethylene Glycol (PEG) and glycol ethers.
